Primera semana en la India

Emocionante, impactante, intensa…la India nunca te deja indiferente por muchas veces que hayas venido. Es un lugar mágico y lleno de enormes contrastes que invade todos tus sentidos desde el momento en el que llegas: colores, olores, sabores y sonidos diferentes que hacen que tu cuerpo necesite unos días de adaptación al nuevo entorno.

Y en eso ha consistido mi primera semana aquí en la India. Nada más salir del aeropuerto de New Delhi el calor reinante y los olores característicos empiezan a bombardear tus sentidos. Si a esto le añades 6 horas ½ de coche y un poco de comida picante, te das cuenta que tu organismo está ya en pie de guerra apenas unas horas después de haber aterrizado.

Durante este viaje visitaré el estado llamado Uttarakhand, el cual está dividido en dos regiones: Garhwal y Kumaon. Es un estado muy joven ya que desde que la India adquirió su independencia en 1947 ha sido parte del estado de Uttar Pradesh, adquiriendo  condición de estado independiente en el 2000. Es un lugar con una energía especial por diversas razones: por su situación geográfica (está situado en la parte india del Himalaya), por su espiritualidad (4 de las ciudades santas de la India se encuentran aquí: Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri y Jamunotri), por ser la cuna del Yoga (Rishikesh es la ciudad del yoga por excelencia) y por ser el lugar donde nace el Ganges (río sagrado de los hindúes).

Mi primera parada ha sido en Rishikesh, en donde he pasado un día visitando los barrios típicos de Laxman Jhula,

y de Ram Jhula,

y algunos de los ashrams de la ciudad como el del Swami Dayananda.

Después de este día de turismo y relax he venido en coche a Joshimath (9 horas), un pequeño pueblo de 10.000 habitantes situado en el medio de las montañas a 1900 metros de altitud, y punto de partida de expediciones y trekkings en esta parte del Himalaya.

Esta será la base desde la cual visitaré en las próximas semanas las distintas zonas de trekking de la región. Aquí también vive Ajay Bhatt, buen amigo que tiene una agencia (Himalayan Snow Runner), un pequeño hotel (Himalayan Abode) y con el cual trabajo para organizar trekkings en esta zona del Himalaya.

Después de otro día y medio de relax en Joshimath he pasado unos días visitando el famoso “Valley of Flowers”

y el Templo de “Hemkund Sahib”

a 4150 metros de altura, ambos situados en el Parque Nacional del Nanda Devi, el cual es también Reserva Mundial de la Biosfera. Para visitar estos lugares primero hay que ir en coche desde Joshimath al pueblecito de Govind Gath 1830m (30 min),

y coger el sendero que atraviesa el Valle Bhuinder,

hasta llegar a la aldea de Ghangria 3050m,

parada obligatoria después de las 4 horas y los 1300 metros de desnivel acumulados.

Después de haber visitado estos dos lugares he vuelto a bajar al valle y al pequeño pueblo de Govind Gath 1830mpara ir en coche (1 hora) a la ciudad sagrada de Badrinath 3125m, en la cual he visitado su famoso templo.

Todos ellos sitios maravillosos y extraordinarios, de una gran belleza natural y con una energía y espiritualidad especiales.

Después de estos días estoy aquí en Joshimath de nuevo, preparando mi próxima aventura que os contaré en la próxima entrada.
